Unit 1: Scale Drawings
In this unit, students explore how to make and interpret scale drawings, such as maps and floor plans. They will learn how shapes change in size but keep their proportions, use scale factors to create scaled copies, and understand how distances and areas adjust when scaling. By the end, students will be able to apply these ideas to real-world situations, like drawing a room or building to scale.

Geography

Welcome to 7th Grade World Geography!

It is hard to believe that we are starting another school year! Where did the summer go? I am excited to be working with you and your students this year in World Geography. Please reach out via email if you have any questions or concerns this school year.

Our first unit will be exploring some of the basic principle and tools of Geography. We will be studying the 5 Themes of Geography as well as maps and other geographic tools that are used to study and learn about the Earth. I am planning this unit to last about a month and am anticipating our first test to be around September 23rd.

Essential Question for our Geography Basics unit: How does the use of geographic tools help us view the world in new ways?

Outside Activities:

Looking for something to do outside of class?  Students have a number of activities on Schoology that focus on our social studies vocabulary and work on their map skills. Students also have the Seterra App on their iPads that has a bunch of different interactive map games and activities they can work on too.   You can also watch/read the news with your student and discuss things that are going on in the world.

Science

Welcome to 7th Grade Science! I can't wait to start this new chapter in 7th Grade with you all!

Questions to ask your child:

  • What do living things need to stay alive, grow, and reproduce?

  • What are all living things made out of?
